Wrong timing at our second attempt.

Poor timing - Lilly is not interested in mating any more.

We followed the regards of more breeding-experienced persons and tried to find out the perfect matingtime with testing progesterone in blood. We failed. It was definitly to late and Lilly did not have interest in mating any more.

Now we know, that we will listen to our feelings again. The progesterone-test made in Olomouc on 25th of august showed us, that Lilly had an ovulation. But it was much to late now to mate her. With our new experience we think, that Lilly has a very early matingtime which seems to be uncommon at first sight.

But now we know, that this early mating time is not uncommon at well-trained bitches. And - we also know, that it is hard to get empirical values from breeding well-trained irish wolfhound bitches …

We expect Lilly to come in season again in February 2010.

The Relaxin-Test made on 31st March showed us that Lilly is not pregnant. With the experience from first mating we will try again in Lilly's next season. The estimated date will be at the end of August/beginning of September.

The checklist:

Baruch had his DCM checkup in September 2009 and no abnormalities were found.

We were especially happy to hear that Baruch’s mother, Mary Kay Ionmhain Norman, had her DCM checkup at the age of 8.5 in September 2009 as well, and no abnormalities were found either.

On 15th of November 2009 Lilly passed bonitation.

Lilly passed her DCM checkup on 10th of December 2009 and no abnormalities were found. We are waiting for the DNA-profile.

Lilly & Baruch in July 2009

In Really Irish Baruch Baruc we have found what we were looking for. He is a relaxed, athletic dog, up to standard, not too tall but impressive nevertheless. In the last couple of months we met him personally several times, and we also know his parents (Pergentino Pimentel dei Mangialupi und Mary Kay Ionmhain Norman). Baruch is two years older than Lilly and an enthusiastic courser. 2007 he came in sixth at the European Championship in Switzerland, in which males and females ran together, 2009 he came in fifth (males only).

His calm and stable character didn't only convince us but Lilly as well. The two of them like to romp around together after a race and obviously like each other.

We think that Lilly and Baruch are very much alike, both are agile and enjoy moving around. Both are Irish Wolfhounds who are normally built; they share a sportive build, moderate angulation, straight legs, and highly typical heads. The chest is not only deep but also wide, offering enough space for the heart and lungs. They also share long-living ancestors who were active at coursing. We also paid attention to the inbreeding coefficient. The IC of the planned litter is at 3,5% over eight generations.

We expect correct puppies who enjoy moving about, and our wish for them would be to be with correspondingly sportive people. Because we would like to stay in contact with the future owners of our puppies we would like to get to know you better. Therefore we kindly ask you to get in touch if you are sincerely interested.

Our requirements.

We would like athletic and healthy Irish Wolfhounds who are capable of fulfilling their original breeding goal, which was coursing. But coursing is only a small part of a dog's life. Today the Irish Wolfhound is mainly a companion dog, fit for everyday life, and that is what matters to us the most.

Picking the right stud is very important for this concept. This means that we've been watching several studs for some time now, but it's yet too early for concrete commitments. We will only take athletic studs into consideration, however.

Of course our dogs live in the house with us, are walked daily and trained according to their age.

We plan and act in a long-term and sustainable way, and that's what we also expect of people who are interested in our puppies.
